Accessibility Statement
Everyone should be able to help a cat — including the one in three of us who browse with a disability.
Our commitment
Paws Furever Home, Inc. is committed to making pawsfureverhome.org usable by everyone, and we target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across the site.
For a small rescue, accessibility is part of how we show respect for every supporter — the donor reading our impact report with a screen reader, the volunteer who navigates by keyboard, the neighbor zooming the pantry schedule to 200% on an older phone. If you want to help a cat, nothing about this website should stand in your way.
Measures we take
Accessibility is built into how this site is written, not bolted on afterward. The measures we take include:
- Semantic HTML and clear landmarks, so assistive technology can move around each page
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page
- Keyboard-operable navigation — including pressing Escape to close menus
- Visible focus styles, so you can always see where you are on the page
- Text contrast targeting at least 4.5:1 against its background
- Alternative text on every meaningful image
- A visible label on every form field
- Reduced-motion support that honors your prefers-reduced-motion setting
- Touch targets of at least 44 pixels for links and buttons
- No information conveyed by color alone
Known limitations
We would rather be honest than claim perfection. Some parts of the site we cannot fully control:
- Third-party embeds — such as the PayPal donation flow and our Facebook content — are outside our control and may not meet the same standard
- Older PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers
- Some decorative photos of our cats carry only brief alt text
We are a volunteer team, and we fix issues as we find them. When you tell us about a barrier, it goes straight onto our list.

Compatibility
This site is designed for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, and it works with common screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Pages are responsive down to small phones, and you can zoom to 200% without losing content or functionality.
How we check
We assess the site ourselves: keyboard-only passes through every page, contrast checks on new color combinations, and screen-reader spot checks whenever a new page goes live.
